The bluelightprotect filter LiTE offers expansive protection of the eye against light-induced oxidative stress and prevents grave disturbances in the hormonal blance.


In the short-wave range up to 500nm, which has the most damaging effect on cells and hormonal balance, LiTE filters out about 92% of the light. To ensure better colour recognition and brightness, LiTEhas a higher transparency than the PRO filter in the less problematical range between 500nm and 550nm (50% transmission) We therefore recommend the LiTE filter for occasions when a better colour recognition is neccessary, for example when watching TV and for use during the day, when the body is less susceptible to blue light damage, as there is more natural light to counter balance it.

Healthy eyes in modern times
Modern flat screens (PC, TV, tablet, smartphone) emit a Spectral Distributionlight with a strong content of short wavelength blue light. Scientific studies have shown that this light can damage the retina of the eyes.

Have you experienced burning, red eyes after working on the computer for a long time? Artificial light with a high blue-light content greatly influences the hormonal balance and can lead to sleeping disorders (with a disruption of melatonin production). Watching TV or looking onto screens in the evening without blue light protection increases stress on our hormonal balance, so that many of us cannot "switch off“ when it is time to sleep, and regeneration is impaired.

Did you know all blue light protection is not the same?

 What is blue light?

The natural daylight is made up of a nearly continuous spectrum in which all colours occur. Here you can see a spectral measurement of daylight in winter under cloudy skies.

Natural Light Spectrum

The different colours correspond to different wavelengths. At the left end of the (visible) spectrum are the short-wave frequencies with blue and violet light. (UV light is even shorter wave and can not be perceived by the eye). The area, with wavelengths up to approx. 500 nm (nanometers), is called blue light.

Shortwave light has a strong oxidizing effect, and can cause cell damage through the formation of free oxygen radicals. The fact that UV light can damage the skin and eyes has long been known; That's why, for example, sunglasses need to be 100% UV-protected. However, blue light protection has been an underestimated parameter so far.

More and more recently published studies show the potential danger of short-wave light in the visible range. Not only does it have a similar oxidative effect to UV light, it also penetrates the eye! While UV light primarily damages the eye lens, where it is strongly absorbed, blue light hangs unimpeded on the retina and can cause lasting damage to the visual and pigment cells there.

Why is the topic so current?

While in natural daylight the harmful effect of the blue component is largely compensated by the regenerative red and infrared radiation, we are increasingly surrounded by light sources that not only radiate blue, but also lack the regenerating red components.

This is particularly serious with flat screens and TVs, which are usually backlit with LED technology and in which we often look for hours. Here you can see the spectrum of a standard flat screen.

In the blue area, a clear "peak" can be seen, an energy peak that never occurs in natural light. In addition, this spectrum has little red content. Light with a high proportion of short-wave blue radiation can produce oxidative stress in the eye, which promotes long-term diseases such as macular degeneration. In addition, short-wave light can also disturb the hormone balance, which can promote the development of chronic diseases. Many people also complain about short-term VDU phenomena such as watery, burning and red eyes, headaches and eyelashes.
